5 Tips for Getting the Best Recipe Extractions

PasteAndTaste's AI is powerful, but you can help it produce even better results. Here are five tips for getting the most accurate recipe extractions.

1. Choose videos with clear audio

Our AI relies heavily on what the cook says during the video. Videos where ingredients and measurements are clearly spoken produce the most accurate extractions. Background music is fine — our AI can filter that out — but mumbling or heavy accents can sometimes cause issues.

2. Shorter, focused videos work better

A 5-minute video focused on a single recipe will produce a cleaner extraction than a 30-minute vlog that includes a recipe somewhere in the middle. If a video contains multiple recipes, our AI will extract the primary one — usually the one given the most screen time.

3. Look for videos that show ingredients

Videos that visually display ingredients on screen (like those "ingredient lineup" shots at the beginning) give our AI extra context to cross-reference with the audio, resulting in more accurate quantities and ingredient names.

4. Review and edit after extraction

While our AI is highly accurate, it's always a good idea to give the extracted recipe a quick review. You can easily edit any ingredient quantities, step text, or timings directly in PasteAndTaste. The edit feature is available to all Premium subscribers.

5. Try different platforms

Don't limit yourself to just one platform! Each social media site has unique content creators with different cooking styles. TikTok tends to have quick, trendy recipes while YouTube often has more detailed, traditional recipes. Instagram Reels fall somewhere in between. Explore them all to build a diverse recipe collection.
